There are many riding schools, associations and centres scattered throughout the area. Of the many activities they offer, special mention must be made of their horseback excursions, which allow travellers to visit some of the most striking panoramic points in the area and enjoy breathtaking views on horseback while travelling from one Alpine meadow to the next, trotting from paths to bridges. Individual and group outings on horseback are organised on a periodic basis, both in summer and winter. Several classes and riding courses are also on offer throughout Dolomites.
The brand new Ippovia del Trentino Orientale (Eastern Trentino Riding Trail) is 432 km long. The trail has been broken down into 16 stops, and each stop boasts a rest area and stalls for horses travelling on the Riding Trail. The entire trail is also signposted. The Riding Trail makes its way across Trentino's largest mountain range - the Lagorai - which stretches from Panarotta to the Rolle Pass, cutting across all of the eastern part of the region. From the eastern Dolomites to the Vigolana Plateau, it then connects directly to Asiago and the Veneto Region.
Riding buffs can design their ideal route here.
The winter edition of the Lagoraid is held in March between Valsugana, the Tesino Plateau and Lagorai. This horseback riding meeting-event helps visitors to discover some of the most fascinating corners of this area of Trentino.
Another noteworthy event is the "10 giorni equestre della Val di Fiemme" (10 days of riding in Val di Fiemme) - a national riding competition featuring both foreign and Italian riders which is held in Predazzo in July.
